Creating An Online Campus
DCU Center - Worcester, MA - October 3 - 4, 2006

Focusing on the roles of Online Tools and Technologies, and the Infrastructure to Support an Online Campus

We are living in what is known as the Information Age; an age where the movement of information has become a lot faster than physical movement and relies heavily on technology. Cell phones, computers, and the Internet are only a few things that most people, especially college students can't seem to live without. There was once a time where patience was not an option, but now with the aid of high speed and wireless internet, and advances and improvements in technology, people, especially the younger crowd have become extremely impatient and want things to go by faster and easier.

The "online campus" already exists; it exists in response to the growing need for faster and easier communication between students and their school community. The generation of college students today are more "tech savvy" and are quickly finding their own ways to connect with each other with the help of online communities such as Facebook.com and MySpace.com, instant messaging, blogs, and more. With all of the new and improved programs, software, and technology it is your job as college and university leaders to catch up to this rapid movement and incorporate them on campus.

At this event, you will learn more about new and improved tools of today and how you can use those tools to help you create better systems for an online campus.

The Conference will focus on the following topic areas:

Online Tools and Technologies
- Understand the world of the internet; learn about blogs, Wikis, instant messaging, and other online tools; understand why and how they play an important role in the lives and education of the new student today.
- Learn how to prepare and manage your school website; what to do, what not to do, and what to watch out for.

Infrastructure to Support an Online Campus
- Understand how the underlying foundation of an organization is used to support an online campus.
